A Few Words About Us

The first IDA Scholarship awards were given in the Fall of 2001.

On June 22, 2000, the IDA Board of directors authorized the development of a Scholarship program to be administered by the association’s Education and Meetings Committee. The first IDA Scholarship awards were given in the Fall of 2001. The foundation was incorporated on August 5, 2002 and a foundation board was established in October 2002. An IDA Scholarship Investor Program was initiated in 2001 and a recognition for contributors page first appeared in the International Door & Operator Industry magazine in the July-Aug 2002 issue.

Scholarships are awarded per criteria per region per type of scholarship. Twelve regions are each offered a Primary Scholarship and a Secondary Scholarship for Dealer sponsored applicans; one Primary Scholarship for an Industry sponsored applicant is also offered. These awards are given once per year, but a scholarship recipient may reapply each year and receive up to four scholarships.
